Cumberledge Academy Policies for Online and In-Class Students

Where accountability meets achievement.

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is essential for academic success.

  • In-Class Students: Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and arrive on time. Parents or guardians must notify the school in advance of any planned absences or provide a written excuse for unexpected absences.

  • Online Students: Students must log in promptly for all scheduled online classes or tutoring sessions. Parents or guardians should inform the instructor of planned absences or provide an explanation for unexpected absences via email or the designated platform.

Excessive unexcused absences for either group may result in disciplinary action, including academic consequences or loss of privileges.

Behavior Expectations

We expect all students, whether online or in class, to conduct themselves in a respectful, responsible, and safe manner at all times.

  • In-Class Students: Disruptive behavior, bullying, harassment, or failure to follow staff instructions will not be tolerated.

  • Online Students: Students must maintain respectful communication in chats, video calls, or forums. Disruptive behavior, cyberbullying, or inappropriate online conduct will not be tolerated.

All students are expected to adhere to the school’s code of conduct and follow staff instructions promptly and courteously.

Academic Integrity Policy

Academic honesty is paramount to the integrity of our educational community.

  • All Students: Assignments and assessments must be completed independently unless group work is explicitly permitted. Proper citation of sources is required.

  • In-Class Students: Plagiarism, cheating, or any other form of academic dishonesty will result in disciplinary action.

  • Online Students: Plagiarism, using unauthorized resources during assessments, or any dishonesty in virtual environments will result in similar disciplinary measures, including potential loss of access to online privileges.

Disciplinary actions may include a failing grade on the assignment, notification of parents or guardians, and potential suspension or expulsion.

Technology Usage Policy

The use of technology is a privilege that comes with responsibilities.

  • In-Class Students: Devices must be used for educational purposes during class time. Accessing unauthorized websites, cyberbullying, or misuse of school technology is strictly prohibited.

  • Online Students: Students must ensure their devices are set up for educational use during school sessions. Inappropriate use of technology, such as accessing unauthorized websites or engaging in cyberbullying, is prohibited.

Violations may result in disciplinary action, including restricted technology access or removal from the platform.

Health and Safety Policy

The health and safety of our students and staff are top priorities.

  • In-Class Students: Students are expected to follow health guidelines, including practicing good hygiene, adhering to safety protocols, and staying home if unwell.

  • Online Students: While students are learning remotely, they should maintain good physical and mental health habits, including taking breaks to rest their eyes and stretch.

Emergency Procedures

Emergency contact information must be kept up-to-date for all students.

  • In-Class Students: Parents or guardians will be notified promptly in the event of an emergency affecting the school.

  • Online Students: In case of technical or personal emergencies, parents or guardians should contact the school immediately to ensure clear communication and continuity of learning.
